Speaking before a group of research managers from Europe, Asia and Africa, Mr. Stites presented the three phases of research:
1. Early Intuitive Period
2. Maturing Deductive Period
3. Formal Model Conformation Period
He also presented industry examples of how this entire process can be managed from fussy awareness of needs to practical understanding of solutions. He specifically talked about when and how to apply formal Design of Experiment (DoE) to reach clarity in the most cost effective way. A copy of the Power Point slides used is available from Stites & Associates, LLC. You may request them by email by sending your request to Ron Stites at ron@tek-dev.net.
The attendees were users of the DoE program, Design Expert, by Statease (Minneapolis, MN). Statcon (Germany), the European distributor for Statease, hosted the conference.
The conference provided two days of intense and extremely interesting technical discussions and case studies. Of course, not all the time spent on such titillating topics as the validity of p-values on non-orthogonal data sets. There was time for social interaction – especially a riverboat ride on the Danube. While leisurely cruising the Danube, Mr. Stites was able to carry on political and cultural discussions with colleagues from France and North Africa in French thanks to the Herculean efforts of Professor Karim Halty – his former instructor at Alliance Francaise de Denver.
